The cogeneration plant in Szczecin converted at the end of 2011 from coal to bioenergy and was then Poland's largest biofuel-fired cogeneration plant with 162MWth thermal energy production and 68MWe electricity production.
In 2016, the facility was supplemented with 1.8MW low-voltage electric boilers, 3pcs EP 600 electric boilers, which have the task of "consuming" the overproduction of electricity to charge the energy in large accumulators that supply the city's district heating network with hot water.
